Volunteers Needed

Tamil Welfare Association Newham UK (TWAN) is an OISC accredited, community based legal advice service, providing a range of services aimed at the growth and empowerment of Tamil speaking individuals in the UK.

TWAN has successfully completed 35 years of service to the Tamil community in the UK and continues to grow. Formed initially to assist asylum seekers and victims of war and torture, we continue serve this group as well as specialising in other immigration matters. We also provide advice across a range of social welfare areas.

We are looking for three or more new volunteers to help us run:

Office reception duty and admin support:

  • Flexible working hours during course of the week;
  • Must be Tamil speaking;
  • Familiarity with IT including Microsoft Office is ideal but can be developed on the role.

Fundraising:

  • Includes writing grant applications;
  • Requires good written and oral communication skills, as well as the excellent analysis;
  • Flexible working hours including weekend.

Governance and communications:

  • Includes writing our annual report;
  • Requires good written skills, the ability to spot communication opportunities and execute strategies and the ability to synthesise large volumes of information concisely;
  • Flexible working hours including weekend.
